Dwight School, an independent private school located on the Upper West Side, is seeking a Staff Accountant who will be responsible for providing financial, administrative and clerical support to the Business Office to ensure effective, efficient and accurate financial and administrative operations.
Responsibilities of the position:
Manage Accounts Payable
Manage Accounts Receivable
Monthly bank reconciliations
Accounts analysis and reconciliations
File monthly sales tax
1099 Preparation at Year-End
Prepare semi-monthly payrolls in Paychex
Prepare and file quarterly Commercial Tax Returns
Assist with year-end closing and 401K Audit
Responsible for all rentals, joint partnerships, and programming with outside vendors
Manage the budgets for all non-academic programs
Assist other team members with other assignments/projects as needed
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or higher with 2+ years’ experience in accounting or related field required
Must possess knowledge of GAAP
Must possess excellent verbal, written and organizational skills
Must be a team player
Must be proficient in Word, Excel, Powerpoint and QuickBooks
Financial Edge and Smart Tuition knowledge a plus
Must have the ability to read and understand technical forms, budgets, and financial reports
