Lower School Lead Teacher (Third Grade – One Year Position)
Position Title: Lower School Lead Teacher (3rd Grade)
Reports To: Lower School Division Head
The Shipley School, founded in 1894, is a co-educational, college preparatory, independent day school currently enrolling 830 students in grades Pre-K through 12. Located in the western suburbs of Philadelphia, the school is committed to educational excellence and dedicated to developing in each student a love of learning and a compassionate participation in the world. The Lower School has 250 students in grades pre-K through 5th, and a faculty of 54.

The Shipley School seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Lead Teacher for Third Grade for one year (2018-19). The ideal candidate will:
Develop an intellectually challenging and creative program with developmentally appropriate and research-based practices.
Individualize instruction and educate the whole child.
Work cooperatively with colleagues.
Implement an academically rigorous, inquiry-based and differentiated curriculum that emphasizes 21st century soft skills.
Utilize a variety of instructional and assessment methods.
Integrate technology to support student learning.

Successful applicants should possess the following qualifications:
Excellent speaking and writing skills
3-5 years’ teaching experience
BA in Education or related field; MA not required but preferred
