Summary: This is an amazing opportunity for an individual with a passion for youth leadership development to be a part of a one of a kind leadership and entrepreneurial development program for students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. The Aspen Youth Leadership Institute was founded to provide students with the opportunity to develop emotional and social intelligence and community and civic leadership.

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provide and uphold vision for the Aspen Youth Leadership Institute
Participate in ongoing research and development related to best practices in youth leadership development and social-emotional learning.
Develop and articulate a uniform, detailed curriculum including standards, scope and sequence, pacing calendars, unit plans, daily lesson plans, and professional development for pre-kindergarten through 8th grade
Responsible for the ongoing editing, quality control, and production of the Aspen Youth Leadership Institute curriculum
Develop and implement comprehensive assessment protocol that demonstrates the impact of the Aspen Youth Leadership curriculum among all stakeholders
Collaborate with leadership team to determine optimal packaging, distribution, and marketing of completed curriculum
Enhance existing leadership co-curricular organizations (SCO, NJHS, NEHS, Student Ambassadors, etc.), overseeing and contributing to along the way
Design and launch new youth leadership activities and expand co-curricular programming
Forge and maintain partnerships with local businesses and organizations that can support the Aspen Youth Leadership Institute
Manage the budget of the Aspen Youth Leadership Institute and engage in funding opportunities such as grant writing, sponsorships, donations, etc.
Responsible for exploring and adapting appropriate technology that supports leadership endeavors
Pursue regular and ongoing professional development to maintain expertise within the leadership development domain
Provide support and coaching for all stakeholders in the implementation and academic integration with regard to leadership development
Champion character and leadership development understanding and appreciation among all Aspen Academy students, faculty, and programs
Supervise and help implement service learning projects for JK-8 grade. Integrate community service and service learning with curricular and co-curricular activities
Provide faculty with professional development opportunities related to leadership, entrepreneurship, service learning and community service
Develop mechanisms with Academic Directors and Coaching team for recognizing students’ contributions to leadership and entrepreneurship
Teach a middle school elective class related to youth leadership development, participate in the daily instruction of leadership
Coordinate activities across Aspen Academy to build key partnerships and relationships in the youth leadership development community
Network within the community internally and externally for strategic partnerships to further the organization
Conduct Parent Universities on youth character and leadership related topics
Contribute to any internal leadership department communications - newsletter, website, marketing materials, etc.
Regularly communicate the highlights of the Aspen Youth Leadership Institute program externally with local newspapers, social media platforms, blogs, etc.
Other Professional Responsibilities:
Act as faculty liaison and mentor for the Student Civic Organization
Participate actively in the school’s faculty meetings, team meetings and department meetings
Complete all other responsibilities deemed appropriate by the Head of School for the school to achieve its goals
Reinforce the school’s core values and policies inside and outside the classroom
Lead and/or participate in assemblies, student events, and school events
Sponsor or co-sponsor a parent education seminar in an area of your expertise
Serve on a Professional Learning Community as they opportunity arises
Promote and maintain a supportive and positive relationship with all students and families you serve
Be punctual to all professional obligations
Conduct oneself and dress in a professional manner
Apply for professional and instructional awards and grants that would support your own professional development
Possess excellent organization, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to successfully interface with students, colleagues, parents, and administrators
Considerable knowledge of budget development and management
Skill in public speaking and customer service
Ability to relate and work with a broad and varied population
Ability to interpret policies and procedures to a variety of situations and circumstances
Exemplary communication skills – both orally and in writing
Ability to use diplomacy and tact with citizens, volunteers, staff and the general public
Demonstrated theoretical foundation in the principles and practices of leadership
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Grant permission for a credit check and criminal background check
Entrepreneurial mindset and skill set required
Education & Experience:
Master’s Degree preferred
Demonstrated experience in curriculum writing and curriculum development
Strong understanding of business and leadership development arena; experience with business start-up or owning personal business preferred
Training and/or certifications in well-known leadership development programs
