The Calverton School is seeking to hire an Upper School math teacher to begin in the 2018-19 academic year. The position is expected to include multiple sections of Geometry and Algebra II. Calverton offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, and all students in 11/12th grades take IB courses. The goal of our math sequence is to prepare a diverse group of students for any one of the IB courses, including Math Studies, Mathematics SL, and Mathematics HL. It is our challenge to support all of our students through rigorous coursework and personal attention, often beyond the scope of the class period.
The Calverton School is a small preK-12 independent school located in Southern Maryland. We draw day students from five counties and have a robust boarding population composed of students coming from surrounding states who participate in the DC United Soccer Academy, as well as from China, Vietnam, S. Korea, and Turkey. Calverton prides itself on small class sizes (5-18) and close, respectful relationships between students, faculty, and parents. Calverton’s Philosophy of Honor provides a touchstone for our school culture. Many of our Middle and Upper School faculty coach at least one season and/or live and work in campus housing.
