The RCDS faculty is innovative and collaborative and we seek candidates to complement the strengths of our program and to add his or her own expertise and background to provide additional breadth to the core curriculum.
Teachers at Rockland Country Day School are responsible for delivering high quality instruction to our students. Candidates should possess the ability and willingness to work with students in large and small group settings using multiple teaching methods to reach a broad range of students.
The Reading Specialist provides reading intervention and Executive Function support to students in one-on-one and small -group sessions. Position requires working closely with faculty, especially those in the Humanities. Candidates must know how to assess students formally and informally to determine instructional level of need and effectively implement literacy instruction and educational support for them.
This position begins October 2018.

*Demonstrated successful experience in creating a stimulating and successful support environment for students with varying levels of need.
*Facility with Wilson and Orton-Gilligham readign programs, and ability to administer the Woodcock-Johnson Reading Mastery Test and other formal reading assessments.
*Demonstrated knowledge of learning strategies for students with processing and executive functioning challenges.
*Ability to interpret IEP testing and reports and create 504 plans, remediation plans, and guidance for teachers based on student learning needs.
*Collaborative, cooperative teaching style and relationships with colleagues
*Master’s degree as a Reading Specialist or Learning Specialist
*Flexibility in working with multiple grade levels and subject areas
*Experience working in an independent school preferred.
