Bellarmine College Preparatory, located in San José, California, invites applications for a full-time Music teaching position beginning August, 2018. The school’s music program currently consists of Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensembles, and Jazz Band. Bellarmine is seeking a director to sustain those ensembles in the academic year ahead, then to engage in a process to continue the development of a twenty-first century program in the future.

Engage with stakeholders (students, parents, the Visual & Performing Arts Department, the Assistant Principal for Instruction, the Principal, and the larger community) to ensure the music program serves Bellarmine's students presently and into the future
Teach multiple sections of some or all of the following in 2018-19: Percussion, Jazz Ensemble, and Symphonic Band. Rehearsals may occur before, during and after normal school hours.
Schedule and manage performances for ensembles as well as associated logistics of venues, travel, etc. Performances may involve evening and/or weekend responsibilities.
Oversee the budget for the music program in partnership with the Visual and Performing Arts chair
Catalogue, manage, and maintain equipment and assets associated with the music programs
Serve as Music Director for the Winter Musical and for pep band, and assist with liturgical music as required
Collaborate with colleagues on current and future curricula, instruction, and assessments
Hold regular office hours and meet with students who need assistance
Communicate regularly with parents, counselors, and administrators to ensure the success of each student
Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional growth
Fulfill periodic substitution and prefecting responsibilities
