The Great Barrington Rudolf Steiner School (GBRSS) seeks a capable and collaborative leader to serve as School Director.
Aided by excellent interpersonal and community building skills, as well as strong strategic sensibilities, the School Director will work with the board, faculty, and parent community to shape the school’s direction. The Director will be an inspirational leader and effective manager who can develop collaborative and close-knit teams of the highest standard and harness the considerable talent in the faculty and administration to achieve new standards of excellence in academics, school culture, enrollment and fundraising. The director will also address the myriad issues that arise in a school context with creativity and decisiveness.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in school leadership and management, including working with a board of trustees and cultivating relationships with parents; outstanding organizational, problem solving, and communication skills; an instinct for collaboration; an ability to manage change; an appetite for fundraising; warmth, curiosity, a sense of humor; and a love of children. Interest in and respect for Waldorf education is required, as are a Bachelor’s degree; experience in a Waldorf school is a plus, as is teaching experience, a love of the classroom, and a graduate degree.
