Junior Kindergarten Head Teacher
Convent of the Sacred Heart, seeks Lower School Junior Kindergarten Head Teacher candidates, beginning late August 2018.
Candidates should have:
A Master’s Degree in an Early Childhood Education Program
Experience teaching students on the preschool level
An understanding of the Mission and the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart
Experience in implementing a guided play-based curriculum emphasizing independence and self-motivation of students
Experience in creating learning centers and group activities fostering student growth in self-awareness as well as an understanding of the needs of others
Experience in teaching mathematical concepts and using a variety of manipulatives with students on the preschool level
Knowledge of teaching a variety of appropriate visual, auditory, and kinesthetic activities fostering alphabet recognition and strong literacy skills
Strong knowledge of age-appropriate literature for daily read alouds
Knowledge of utilizing block building, puzzles, games, sand play, and art projects with students to encourage the development of fine motor skills
Experience with incorporating daily art activities into the curriculum, including easel painting, watercolor, collage, and drawing
Experience in sharing students’ strengths and goals with parents through oral and written communication
