Reports to: Lower School Division Head/AEP Director
Position Status: Full time, non-exempt
Work Hours: M-F, 7:30am-4:00pm
San Francisco Day School is a K-8, nonprofit private school in the heart of the city with
an enrollment of approximately 400 students. San Francisco Day School educates,

This position will provide continuity in students’ experience in both instructional and non-instructional parts of the school day and after school. The aide will help provide a bridge in student supervision between the school day and the After School Enrichment Program (AEP).
Support all goals of grade level
Share time between classrooms, work at stations, help during whole group instruction
Support and care for injured or sick students
Escort children to specials
Support teachers in preparation for all activities
Advocate and support grade level and school in all ways.
Supervise morning care, recess and lunch.
Supervise and coordinate structured activities during recess time. Work with AEP on materials and equipment during recess
Help with dismissal and transition to and from morning care and AEP (after school enrichment program)
Facilitate community meeting at AEP with AEP Director or Coordinator
Assist the AEP coordinator in planning and implementing grade level appropriate activities
Work with grade level students during AEP to support their experience in AEP
Maintain awareness of grade level students during AEP as well as other students
Check out with grade level students from AEP
Communicate and meet with grade level teachers, AEP director and coordinator about students
Skills, Qualifications, Personal Qualities
Minimum of two years college education
Experience working with students as a tutor, teacher and/or counselor
Demonstrated experience working with parents, teachers and students
Experience with conflict resolution
Interest in educational work
Must have patience, tact, friendly disposition, good judgment, enthusiasm, flexibility and developed communication skills. The candidate should have excellent follow-through with teachers, volunteers, families and students.
Complete fingerprint search and TB test results.
Valid First Aid and CPR certificate
Bilingual spanish a plus
While performing the duties of this job, the aid regularly stands, walks, uses hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear.
The individual will also sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, and occasionally crawl.
The employee will occasionally lift and/or move items up to 20 pounds.
The employee must be constantly alert for student safety.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud depending upon class activity in the hallways.
The individual will occasionally work in outside weather conditions.
