Friends Community School, a K-8 Quaker progressive school in the College Park, Maryland seeks a full-time facilities manager to begin work on July 1. The position is responsible for the maintenance of equipment, machinery, building and grounds, and compliance with our sustainable practices.
The Facilities Manager coordinates building projects, oversees use of our green building, manages the maintenance of the building and grounds, performs basic repairs, communicates with other repair personnel, and oversees facilities enhancements; providing a safe and sustainable campus for children and teachers.
The person will:
Be responsible for safety and maintain all safety records including MSDS, OSHA, and fire and security systems.
Arrange for and oversee maintenance of all building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, grounds, playground equipment; schedule routine and preventive maintenance; and maintain all appropriate records.
Supervise contract janitorial staff, ensuring compliance with green cleaning procedures and satisfactory results.
Identify equipment in need of repair.
Develop and work within the maintenance budget.
Have some skills in carpentry, plumbing, painting, or electrical preferred.
The successful candidate will have at least two years experience in facility management or related field, have excellent organization and communication skills, have knowledge of green building practices, be available for occasional evening, weekend or early-morning work, and is eligible for immediate clearance to work with children.
