Randolph School is seeking candidates for an Upper School visual art teacher beginning August 2018.
Candidates must have full knowledge of concepts, processes, materials, and techniques as needed in studio courses. Special consideration will be given to candidates that may bring innovative instructional experience in new processes including technological media. The department also expects a creative and dynamic colleague who can communicate effectively orally and in writing; who demonstrates a collaborative attitude; and who will add his/her own dimension to a dynamic team. Above all, the candidate must be committed to the advancement of student learning through dedicated, exemplary instruction that supports and promotes the Randolph School Mission.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
Teach studio art classes each semester during the regular academic day
Oversee course recommendations and selections for the visual arts
Arrange framing and display of students’ and visiting artists’ work
Make presentations about the visual arts curriculum to prospective parents and students, consultants, and visitors
Serve as a student advisor
Work closely with the communications and admissions offices to provide student artwork for use on Randolph’s website, digital mailings, school view book and other publications.
Remain current in the subject matter areas and in the techniques of effective instruction.
Experience with and specialization in 3D art desirable.
We seek a collaborative, team oriented teacher who is ready to participate in all aspects of school life, including club leadership, program development, and coaching.
Education qualifications: Preferred M.A. in the arts or experience in teaching high school art. Minimum requirement: B.A. in the visual arts or arts education. Reputable experience as an arts educator, preferably in grades 9-12. Independent school experience is a plus.
