Middle School Counselor: Westtown School, a diverse K–12 Quaker day and boarding school located in beautiful Chester County, PA., seeks a full-time Middle School Counselor with previous experience supporting Middle School students, exceptional interpersonal skills, strong facility with technology, and the ability to connect meaningfully with students and families throughout our intentionally diverse community.
The Middle School Counselor will:
Help students develop the growth mindset they need to persevere and succeed in all aspects of school and life.
Serve as part of a student support team including School Psychologist, Counselor, and Principal.
Provide academic support for students in organization, executive functioning skills, study habits, note-taking, and other learning skills.
Provide professional development and support for teachers in furthering teaching skills to support a variety of learning styles within the classroom setting.
Work with the Middle School Counselor, School Psychologist, and Principal to develop, communicate, and implement support plans for individual students, including interpreting educational/psychological evaluations.
Work collaboratively in a three division environment to ensure smooth transitions at 6th and 9th grades
Lead or assist with direct instruction to further the growth of students at both the remedial and advanced ends of the continuum.
Provide or coordinate subject-specific extra help, including tutoring referrals as needed.
Teach one section of Middle School math.
Engage with the school community through divisional and school-wide activities such as Meeting for Worship, daily sit-down lunch, occasional field trips or other activities.
