Position Summary The Chestnut Hill School is searching for a Grades 1-6 Music Teacher (.67 FTE) for the 2018-2019 school year. The Grades 1-6 Music Teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing the music program utilizing current best practices in education; collaborating with other music teachers on school performances; communicating with families about students’ progress; promoting equity and diversity; and supporting the mission of the school.
The ideal Grades 1-6 Music Teacher will have at minimum a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Music Education, or related field; experience teaching music with children of this age group and an understanding of their developmental milestones; experience teaching music through the Orff Approach; a proven ability to collaborate effectively; a commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse learning environment; excellent verbal and written communication skills; a joyful spirit encouraging compassion, patience, and caring; and the ability to reflect on their own teaching to adapt lessons to meet different abilities and interests.
