Sidwell Friends, a coeducational Quaker day school with campuses in Washington, DC, and Bethesda, MD, seeks a full-time Interim Drama Teacher for its Middle School (grades 6-8) beginning Fall 2018. This is a benefits-eligible, one-year position with the possibility of renewal.
Specific responsibilities of the position include: teaching drama courses for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades; directing two performances: a 7/8 play in the fall and a 7/8 musical in the spring; writing student reports; effective communication and collaboration with students, colleagues, and families; attendance at meetings; and collaboration with Arts colleagues in the Middle School and other divisions. The successful candidate will be excited about working with Middle School students, possess excellent communication and organizational skills, and have experience with all elements of theater productions.
A Bachelor’s degree in Theater or Theater Education is required. A Master’s degree (or higher) is preferred, as is 3-5 years of experience teaching and directing drama in a school setting.
