Poly Prep seeks applicants for Associate Director of Forensics for the 2018-2019 school year.
Poly Prep strives to provide a joyful, diverse, just and equitable education for our students. We seek an Associate Director of Forensics with either speech or debate coaching experience at a high school or collegiate level, experience with national circuit coaching and experience in program building; and whose competence, integrity and collegiality will enrich our school and Performing Arts department.
The successful candidate will possess excellent content knowledge; a passion for teaching and learning; enthusiasm for working with students, families and colleagues; a growth mindset; and a sense of humor. She or he will be able to inspire and empower students to learn; collaborate and engage in daily discourse with students and colleagues; write well; and commit to ongoing professional development and life-long learning. The ideal candidate will have an Undergraduate and Graduate degree and at least three years of national circuit coaching.
Additionally, we seek a candidate who aspires to uphold our departmental mission statement: “The Performing Arts program at Poly Prep enables all students to explore the creative process through collaboration, developing confidence and empathy as they express themselves in the performance of dance, debate, drama and music, thus enriching their social, emotional, and intellectual growth.”
Full-time schedule includes:
Leading the national travel team on 8-10 national tournaments per semester
Assisting the Director of Forensics with various administrative tasks such as maintaining health and travel forms, updating team website, etc.
Running weekly team practices for the Upper School team and assisting with Middle School team practice and research projects
Collaborating on various projects with the debate class
Overseeing adjunct coaches and judges while traveling and ensuring school communication and behavior standards are maintained
Communicating with parents and faculty in a timely and professional manner
Representing Poly Prep in a positive manner while traveling
Generating happiness and a positive outlook on life and learning
Attending community events throughout the school year
Attending and contributing to meetings during and after the school day, including but not
limited to: department, committee, division and grade-level meetings.
