Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School seeks an experienced, innovative, and energetic senior kindergarten teacher to join our expert faculty beginning in the fall of 2018. The teacher would be a part of a co-teaching pair, as well as a collaborative early childhood team that includes both general and Jewish studies faculty in nursery, junior kindergarten and senior kindergarten.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach, guide, inspire, and nurture children in the early childhood program.
Differentiate instruction for a wide range of students’ abilities and interests.
Communicate regularly with parents via online updates, phone calls or email.
Document student learning and growth throughout the school year.
Collaborate with Learning/Social Work Services and outside specialists to coordinate individual educational plans.
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood or Elementary education required; M.A. preferred.
At least two (2) years of lead teacher classroom experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of Reggio Inspired/Constructivist philosophy and approach.
Knowledge of and experience with early literacy and math instruction.
Experience with Responsive Classroom.
Ability to embrace technology and new ways of extending students' learning and creative capacities; knowledge of iPads.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and administration to support and extend the objectives of the curriculum.
Experience providing a nurturing, creative, and inclusive environment for students and to create a strong classroom community.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Appreciation of a diverse, pluralistic Jewish community.
Comfortable being part of a professional learning community.
Knowledge of and experience with the cognitive, social, and emotional issues of early childhood age students.
Willingness to learn and grow professionally.
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and in case of emergency a 40 pound child.
Often required to stand and sit; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat or crawl.
