We are seeking an experienced, talented, and energetic Fifth and Sixth Grade Math Teacher for the 2018-2019 school year. This position is responsible for teaching and overseeing two sections of 5th grade math and two sections of 6th grade math. The ideal candidate will bring middle school and subject matter expertise, rigor, excellent communication skills, and passion to our academically challenging and socially responsive program. The successful candidate will prepare and inspire all students to be lifelong learners of mathematics, emphasizing problem solving and a conceptual understanding of math. Children’s Day School uses the Bridges in Mathematics curriculum in 5th grade and will be transitioning to the CPM Math program in 6th grade in 2018.

Ability to integrate theory with practice in designing and implementing appropriate learning strategies for each student
Other responsibilities may include:
Serving as a homeroom teacher
Being an advisor of 10-12 students (prior training in Developmental Designs is desired but not necessary)
Leading or co-leading an affinity group related to race/ethnicity, family structure, gender, religion, sexual orientation or other aspects of identity
Participating in an overnight environmental education trip
Performing lunch, recess, morning, and dismissal duties as assigned
Writing narrative reports for all students
Maintaining contact with parents
Participating in parent/teacher conferences
