Camp Jemicy is a summer program offered by the Jemicy School. The camp offers skills instruction and tutoring in reading and language, math, and writing while providing enrichment in science, woodworking, and art. An afternoon recreational program includes outdoor adventure, arts and crafts, swimming, games, sports, field trips, and special events. Camp Jemicy seeks qualified applicants for the position of full-time camp nurse or certified nursing assistant.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Will work from June 18 – July 27, Monday through Friday (except for July 4th)
Hours are 7:45 a.m. – 3: 15 p.m.
Conduct a training session with all counselors and staff on communication with the nurse
Collect, organize, review, and ensure that all camper health forms are complete
Collect, organize, review, and ensure that all camp staff health forms are complete
Inventory and organize health room; request purchase of necessary supplies
Provide all staff members with a summary of medical concerns/needs of campers
Create a plan for any camper whose allergies/health concerns require adjusting normal camp procedures (i.e. Lunch)
Maintain records of any camper who visits the nurse
Complete Baltimore County and Maryland State forms for seeing a hurt/sick camper
Create medical bags and notebooks with camper information for offsite trips and camp overnight events
Communicate with parents about hurt/sick campers
Communicate with camp director about hurt/sick campers
Distribute medication to campers
Assist with health inspection of the camp and work with camp director to complete end of year health form for the County
Attend closing ceremonies to return unused medications to families
Clean and box up all camp nurse materials
Hand in all forms and log book to camp director
The successful candidate may hold either a current RN license or have Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the State of Maryland. Candidates must be CPR certified.
