Rosarian Academy seeks a part-time guidance counselor with demonstrable experience in school counseling. The guidance counselor assists all students in acquiring the skills and knowledge to maximize highest student achievement in a safe learning environment. He or she must have the desire to grow in an innovative professional learning community, is enthusiastic about working with children, and is current with best practices. Responsibilities may include:
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Acting as an advocate for all students
Provides professional leadership to establish a culture conducive to learning
Counsels individual and/or small groups of students with academic and personal/social concerns
Consults with a variety of school-based teams to facilitate appropriate placement decisions to enhance student achievement
Confers with classroom teachers, administration, support staff, community agencies and parents regarding students and their needs
Provides support to teachers in the delivery of counseling program related curriculum
Seeks resources necessary to achieve school goals
Identifies and disaggregates critical data, such as grades, test scores, attendance, promotion rates, enrollment
Uses data to develop strategies to positively impact students
Follows the guidelines of the national, state and district standards for professional school counselors
Adheres to ethical and legal professional standards
Uses appropriate technology for counseling services
Performs other related duties, as required.
Qualifications: all applicants must be certified and hold a Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Counseling. S/he will have at least 3 years of successful experience and will complete Level 1 and 2 background screenings and Virtus training. Additionally, s/he should be able to understand and support Rosarian's vision, mission and values, understanding the unique nature of a Catholic, Independent school environment.
