Associate Teaching Position for 2018-19
Ventana is seeking an associate teacher to assist in its 5th grade classroom. This position would support the lead classroom teacher and would involve one-on-one, small group, and whole class instruction. We are looking for teachers who are prepared and committed to project-based curricula, where all academic disciplines are integrated and content connections are made. Successful candidates will be well-versed in the social emotional needs of a diverse school-age population and able to collaborate and communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
Hold, or are working towards, a CA Multiple subject teaching credential or Master’s degree in related field.
Minimum of three years’ experience working with elementary age
Documented success in achieving strong social emotional and academic results using the social constructivist approach to learning
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Knowledgeable of the Reggio Emilia philosophy
Passionate about refining and growing their teaching practice
Capable of taking initiative, risk-taking and experimentation, resiliency and flexibility
Essential Job Functions:
Associate Teachers in our kindergarten through fifth grade classrooms are expected to maintain a democratic, creative environment in which meaningful learning and personal growth are fostered through a variety of active learning experiences.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Engaging in daily dialogue and collaboration with lead teacher, specialist teachers, and/or teaching team
Supporting one-on-one of small group instruction as outlined by lead teacher
Teaching whole group or small group lessons as requested by lead teacher.
Collaborating with lead teacher on multi-disciplinary project work including, as requested, independently managing some aspects of project work.
Making learning visible to students by documenting their learning through videos, transcripts, photos, and student work. Sharing this documentation by creating blog posts and bulletin board displays.
Writing portions of progress reports.
Supervising student unstructured time during morning or lunch recess periods.
Providing absence coverage as requested.

Ventana is located at Christ Episcopal Church in Los Altos which shares its peaceful and natural environment, serving to awaken children’s natural inclination to explore the world around them.
Ventana opened its preschool program in 2005 and expanded its operation in 2010 to include an elementary school. The school serves 160 families in its preschool through fifth grade program. Investigations are currently under way to expand our school through eighth grade
