Graland Country Day School is seeking a Director of the early childhood program. The Director is responsible for ensuring the health, safety and quality of education for toddlers through pre-k children within the center’s care. The Director is accountable for the overall operational management in accordance with well-established guidelines, including curriculum development, staff and facilities management, legal and long-range planning.
Reports to: Assistant Head of Lower School
Status: This is a 10-month plus additional days, exempt, salaried position with benefits.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
Foster positive working relationships and communicate effectively with admissions, staff, parents, children and state licensing authorities
Recruit, train, supervise and retain quality staff
Develop general educational curriculum; collaborate with staff to develop positive learning activities
Manage adherence to state and local regulations
Oversee daily operations following licensing requirements and health and safety regulations
Oversee all office functions including: tracking extra hours, ECLC budget, faculty day care billing and payment
Maintain communications with parents of current and prospective students through direct conversation, newsletters and parent handbook
Implement community outreach activities to maintain and promote positive community relationships
Maintain positive relationships with regulatory agencies; ensure legal and financial compliance
Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement
Acquire subs for ECLC teachers and substitute/coverage in classrooms as needed
Coordinate all lunch communication to kitchen staff on school days and professional development days
Collaborate effectively with staff and organize monthly ECLC staff meetings
Facilitate parent and teacher professional development sessions
Oversee before- and after-school care for faculty/staff children
Attend Denver Early Childhood Director PLC meetings
Must have a college degree, preferably in early childhood education, elementary education, or family and child development
Must be director-qualified by the state of Colorado
Knowledge and implementation of Creative Curriculum and Building Blocks curriculum preferred
Familiar with Teaching Strategies GOLD
Must be physically able to work both indoors and outdoors with the agility to engage in child-based play and activities.
Excellent leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills
Strong oral and written communications skills
Strong technology skills
Ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment
A strong understanding of child development
Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification
Must clear full background check
Must pass health screening and drug test
