The Associate Director of Development is a member of a 10-person team that raises $5M-$18M annually.
Her/his primary responsibilities are to solicit, close, and steward leadership gifts, developing increasing levels of engagement and support. S/he is responsible for managing a personal portfolio of 75 prospective and active donors. S/he also serves as lead in staffing leadership annual giving volunteers.
Success is determined by the ability to raise dollars, manage projects, and develop and maintain effective working relationships with donors, volunteers, and colleagues. This is a full-time, salaried, 40 hours/week with various nights and weekend commitment, reporting to the director of development.
Meets budget goals and performance measures for qualification, cultivation, and solicitation of leadership gifts
Works with donors to match philanthropic goals to institutional priorities
Identifies and qualifies leadership annual donors, working with major gift and advancement services colleagues to set strategy and communication
Conceives of, develops, and writes fundraising proposals and donor reports
Responsible for gift closure, documenting donor intent and documentation
Staffs the leadership gift and corporate sponsorship committees; recruiting, organizing, training and stewarding volunteer solicitors in coordination with annual giving, fundraising benefit, and major gifts programming
Manages projects, solicitation and stewardship calendar, mindful and respectful of department and institutional workflow
Manages recognition, on-going communications, and continued cultivation and stewardship of major donors consistent with existing policies, grant and gift agreements, and donor philanthropic goals
Conceives of, designs programming, and supports implementation of stewardship opportunities and stewardship events
Enthusiastically accept other duties as assigned
Ability to design, implement and execute a fundraising plan, including individualized cultivation, solicitation and recognition strategies
Knowledge of and experience with all gifts methods including stock, planned and deferred gifts
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Experience working with active, involved volunteer leadership
Ability to travel and attend evening and weekend functions as required
Self-starter with high energy, a positive attitude, even-temperament and a sense of humor

A minimum of four years of successful professional fundraising experience; experience with leadership gifts, volunteer coordination, and independent schools is an advantage
A bachelor’s degree is required; as is record of continuing professional development
