Abington Friends School is seeking to hire a part-time Learning Specialist (approximately 25 hours per week) to support our Middle and Upper School Students who have a range of learning profiles and to serve as a resource for faculty. The Learning Specialist will work in coordination with the Director of Student Support and the Student Support Teams in Middle and Upper Schools. The Learning Specialist will:
Work one on one with students to address individual learning needs as outlined in their learning plan.
Coordinate with teachers and advisors to ensure the implementation of necessary accommodations.
Attend family meetings as necessary and participate in planning the meetings with the rest of the Student Support Team.
Push into content area classes as needed to serve as a resource for students and teachers.
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a Bachelor’s degree in another field combined with strong experience working with students with learning differences required
Experience working with middle school and high school students with a variety of learning needs
