SVA seeks to hire an experienced History teacher. They will be responsible for teaching five classes per semester, with an average class size of 8-10 students. Candidates should have experience teaching World History, U.S. History, Economics, and U.S. Government, with AP and college counseling experience preferred. The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree, demonstrated success teaching to a range of learners, and at least two years’ prior teaching experience.
All teachers are responsible for implementing the current curriculum, which is in line with the California state standards. Successful candidates will have experience with the thoughtful integration of technology in the classroom. They are also responsible for communicating with SVA administration, chaperoning daily afternoon activities, serving as a student advisor, leading a club, proctoring one study hall a week, and working one weekend per month. Boarding school experience is a plus. SVA seeks positive, enthusiastic, and versatile individuals who wish to become an active part of our learning community.
