Turning Point School seeks a Primary/Preschool Assistant Teacher for 2018-19 to foster students’ intellectual, social-emotional, and ethical growth. Assistant teachers at Turning Point School are individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in education.
The Primary/Preschool Assistant Teacher supports the Head Teacher in all aspects of the classroom, working with students between the ages of 2 years 9 months old, to five years old. While the position is primarily in support of the Head Teacher, it is also expected that the Assistant Teacher will grow to take on teaching opportunities when they arise.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Daily interaction with the students and support of Head Teacher
Deliver instruction as experience permits and is determined with the instructional team
Thorough and thoughtful engagement with individual students and groups of students, as needed
Follow the Head Teacher’s lead in facilitating the social, emotional, and academic development of students
Play an integral role in preparing an indoor learning environment and supervising an outdoor learning environment in line with our whole child instructional philosophy
Attend weekly faculty meetings/extracurricular school functions
Participate in professional development
Maintenance of the classroom environment
Modeling of appropriate professional behavior
Perform other related duties as required

Education and/or Experience:
BA degree required (not necessarily in Education)
12 credits in Early Childhood Education required
Experience in an Early Childhood or Montessori setting preferred
