The Hudson School seeks a part-time Mandarin Teacher to begin in late August, 2018. Mandarin teachers are responsible for the development, implementation, and progression of the Hudson School foreign language intensive immersion curriculum.
Essential Job Functions
Develop lesson plans and teach Middle School Mandarin 4 afternoons a week with a potential to teach Upper School Mandarin.
Cultivate a love of Mandarin language and culture through interactive, joyful learning.
Provide differentiated and small group instruction based on the needs of the students.
Create a positive learning environment for students and inspire students to hold themselves to a high standard of academics and character.
Maintain assessment records to inform thoughtful, comprehensive report cards.
Attend faculty meetings and conferences as needed.
Maintain consistent relationships with families, including phone calls, emails and conferences.
Participate in parent/teacher meetings.
A successful candidate will possess the following characteristics and experiences:
Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and ensure student progress.
2 to 3 years teaching experience in immersion language environment

Founded in 1978, The Hudson School in Hoboken NJ provides intellectually inquisitive students in grades 5-12 with a rigorous and relevant college-preparatory education

The Hudson School accepts students from diverse economic and ethnic backgrounds based on their academic promise and intellectual curiosity, rather than their financial ability. We began with 18 middle school students in 1978 (of whom 12 received scholarships through the generosity of the Geraldine Dodge Foundation) and now include 190 students in grades 5 – 12. We continue to admit every qualified student for whom we have room and do whatever we can to help that child’s family meet the costs of sending their child to our school.
