Upland Country Day School seeks an innovative and experienced Lower School Science Teacher for the 2018-2019 school year.
The Science teacher is responsible for designing and implementing a program for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade that provides an introduction to scientific principles.
Create an innovative program that introduces students to the
Prepare and execute thoughtful units of study designed to reach the different learning styles of the students in the classroom.
Work closely with fellow Science teachers to ensure a cohesive curriculum.
Seek community partnerships or programs to supplement classroom learning.
Maintain a safe and engaging learning environment.
Consistently and clearly communicate with colleagues, administrators, and parents regarding any student or classroom issues; prepare semi-annual report card comments.
Attend faculty meetings as determined by the Head of Lower School.
Collaborate with teachers to ensure integration with other subjects.
Actively participate in all in-service and orientation days.
Ability to coach a sport a plus
Experience teaching science, preferably in an independent school setting.
Experience with younger students from Kindergarten through Grade 5
