We are seeking a candidate who will develop and manage the Wellington Sports Performance program, which is geared for Middle and Upper School students. We have a newly renovated weight room facility, two gymnasiums, a turf field, and outdoor space for training and activity. The Sports Performance Coordinator will partner with the Athletic Director, Athletic Trainer, and Physical Education teachers to offer innovative health and wellness opportunities for Wellington students.
Design and implement sports performance programming for all student athletes
Instruct athletes in how to execute all training exercises safely and correctly to obtain desired result
Promote commitment and teamwork among staff, student athletes, and coaches
Operate and maintain the weight room on a daily basis
Ensure student access to safe, productive, and high training opportunities
Develop a working relationship, establish rapport, and ensure open lines of communication with the coaching staff, faculty, and administration
Work in cooperation with the athletic trainer in the rehabilitation and strengthening of injured athletes
Design and provide innovative Physical Education classes and opportunities
Teach Physical Education, Health, and other courses as needed
Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science or similar field. The successful candidate must hold a strength and conditioning certification (CSCS, ACSM, CrossFit Level 2, etc) demonstrating their expertise in this field. Experience or certification in health and/or nutrition is a plus. Three to five years of coaching experience is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to successfully implement a sports performance program for athletes ranging from ten through eighteen years of age
Desire and willingness to seek best practices and try new approaches for the betterment of the athletes
Experience teaching running mechanics and proper weight lifting technique
Flexibility, energy, and a commitment to work actively with students both individually and in a group setting
Excellent group management and communication skills
Willingness to work evening and weekend hours as requested
