The Kew-Forest School seeks a warm and motivated Lead Teacher (3-month maternity leave replacement) for our Preschool 3s classroom during the 2018-2019 school year. The Preschool class, part of a newly expanded early childhood program, will be made up of 10-12 students, led by a Lead Teacher and Associate Teacher. The 3s classroom provides a rich environment for cognitive, social and emotional development and actively engages each child in the learning process.
This 12-week full-time maternity leave position, running from the beginning of September through the start of December, comes with the responsibility of working with faculty and staff to teach Preschool in support of the school’s mission and curricular goals. The ideal candidate will bring a history of collaborative, self-directed work as well as a good sense of humor. The ideal candidate will also have at least three years of teaching experience, preferably at the nursery level, and draw upon that understanding to inspire members of the Kew-Forest community. In addition, candidates should be invested in supervising and mentoring an Associate Teacher, helping her/him become experienced in all areas of life in a classroom.
