Germantown Academy, a coeducational PreK-12 independent school with 1,200 students in Fort Washington, PA (suburban Philadelphia), seeks a Lower School Art Intern and SPARK Lead Teacher to start in August 2018. Both positions are paid hourly and Germantown Academy offers an excellent array of benefits.
This position consists of dual parts. One component being an assistant to the two art teachers in the Lower School and the other being an Assistant Supervisor for the after school SPARK program. Total time commitment is approximately 30 hours/week, Monday-Friday, with benefits.
We are seeking an individual with a fine arts background and experience working with clay, various drawing materials, paper, and printmaking. Competence with technology such as Photoshop and Illustrator are significant. Sharp attention to detail, strong communication skills and ability to take initiative are a must. Effective classroom management skills and teaching experience are preferred.
The Art Assistant will work with the art teachers of the Lower School. Duties vary depending on the needs of the teachers. The work ranges from general classroom prep to highly specialized assistance. This position will include the photography, mounting, display and digital archiving of student artwork. The SPARK Assistant Supervisor will be responsible for active engagement of students through various after school activities. This is a 1-2 year position.
