St. Benedict's is hiring! We are looking for a Language Arts / Homeroom Teacher to join our exceptional team in our Upper Elementary / Middle School. Duties of this role include:
Teach Language Arts and Reading daily to students in 6th, 7th and 8th Grade.
Engage with students in a positive, developing, way.
Partner in planning scope and sequence for Language Arts / Reading curriculum for 6th - 8th Grade
Assure the well-being and safety of the children in his/her care.
Follow all St. Benedict's policies and procedures and written work plans. Exhibits a genuine nurturing, caring attitude to all children.
Maintain a positive, calm attitude and a soft voice, and encourages this attitude and voice in others working in the classroom.
Maintain a cooperative attitude of working together with the other teachers, volunteers, parents, and program specialists in planning and implementing activities.
Maintaining child progress in confidential classroom folders and communicating children’s progress with parents at parent-teacher conference time and regularly as required throughout the year.
Share in the development and implementation of written lesson plans.
Attend all training opportunities as provided by St. Benedict's and staff meetings called by school leadership.
Attend training opportunities provided by other agencies as recommended by school leadership and program specialists.
Performs any other task deemed necessary by the teacher and/or school leadership.
Qualifications: This teacher will commence their role in the Fall of 2018. Successful candidates must possess the following qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in English or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
Three to five years teaching experience at the upper school level, preferably in an independent school setting
State of Georgia Teacher Certification strongly preferred
