Overview of Position:
This position involves significant and varied responsibilities within an integrated K-12 admission program. The ability to articulate philosophy and programs is essential; therefore, the position requires a strong academic background, preferably including teaching experience. Key qualifications include strong personal, organizational, and writing skills.
The Director of Upper Elementary and Middle School Admission will work closely with the Admission Office in planning and implementing a comprehensive range of admission activities, including parent interviews and tours, enrollment management, and a range of outreach events. While the admission staff work collaboratively in these broad areas of responsibility, the Director of Upper Elementary and Middle School Admission will take on particular responsibility for applicants for grades 3 - 8.
The Admission Office at Park includes the Director of Enrollment Management and Tuition Assistance, Director of Admission, Director of Primary Level Admission, and Admission Administrative Assistant. Reporting to the Director of Admission, each Admission Director works closely with their admission committees, which include the division principal and faculty members, in review of applications, student interviews, and evaluation of applicants. For tuition assistance, the Admission Directors partner closely with the Director of Tuition Assistance. A volunteer network of students, faculty, parents, alumni, and trustees is actively involved in supporting the admission effort at Park.
In its approach to admission, Park emphasizes the educational role of admission personnel in articulating the school’s philosophy and programs. Individual attention to parents and applicants is a hallmark of our admission process. Therefore, much of the Directors’ time is devoted to one-on-one tours and interviews with parents and individual assessment of applicants. In addition, Park is actively committed to outreach efforts to build a more diverse pool of applicants; the Admission staff supports a variety of Park-initiated and collaborative outreach efforts. Admission events include some weekend events.
Commitment to an ambitious, educationally-centered definition of the Admission Office’s role is central to promoting understanding of the school’s philosophy and programs, and achievement of the institution’s diversity goals;
Orientation compatible with a progressive educational philosophy;
Strong educational background, preferably including teaching experience;
Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills;
Excellent writing and speaking skills;
Personal skills needed to work with the public and to collaborate effectively with admission staff and the network of parents, students, trustees, and alumni who support admission efforts.

Salary and Benefits
Park salaries and benefits are competitive with those in other leading independent schools. For new appointments, salaries reflect experience and training equated to Park’s scales. In addition to normal retirement and health benefits, the school offers the following distinctive programs:
Faculty & Curricular Advancement (FACA) Program: A $5.6 million endowed program, established in 1989, supports summer professional development work by faculty. This program provides full salary and benefits for work on group or individual projects. Approximately 40% of Park faculty participate in FACA projects each summer. Projects are selected through a formal, competitive review process.
Under current policy, employees who have been at Park full-time for two years are eligible to receive full tuition remission for their children who attend Park. (Employee children must meet the same standards for admission as all other applicants.) During the first two years of employment, employees may apply for tuition assistance through Park’s need-based Tuition Assistance program.
