Ransom Everglades School is seeking applications for a full time, Upper School teaching position in the Physical Education Department, beginning in August 2018. This faculty member will teach introductory sailing courses. Additional duties assigned will depend on the experience of the successful candidate. Candidates who can assist with coaching and/or other areas of school life are especially encouraged to apply.
To take advantage of our location on Biscayne Bay and continue Paul Ransom’s emphasis on experiential learning and outdoor education, all freshmen are enrolled in a physical education course that includes modules in paddle sports, sailing, swimming and personal fitness. Current or willing to obtain ASA and/ or US Sailing Instructor certification
Prior experience as a sailing instructor is required
Applicants must have at least a Bachelor’s degree; a Master’s degree is preferred
Strong communication skills
Passion for working with students; ability to work with a variety of people
Flexibility of time necessary to make commitment to varying time needs of the position
Satisfactory background check, to include criminal background and driving record check
Motorboat driving experience required
Up to date or willing to obtain CPR, First Aid, AED certification
Physical Requirements include the ability to:
lift up to 50 pounds regularly,
respond quickly to sounds,
move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces,
see and respond to dangerous situations.
