West Nottingham Academy (WNA) is located in Maryland at the north point of the picturesque Chesapeake Bay, an hour from either Philadelphia or Baltimore. WNA is situated on a 100-acre ecologically diverse campus in the rolling farmlands of northwest Cecil County. WNA provides a safe and nurturing environment to about 100 residential students and 30 day students. WNA, a 9-12 coeducational boarding and day school, was established in 1744 and is the oldest boarding school in the United States. Our mission is to prepare students for the challenges of college and life through a curriculum grounded in the liberal arts and sciences and through a commitment to individual intellectual, spiritual and social growth. Last year, 120 students were enrolled, 37% from overseas.
WNA is offering a paid full year fellowship to support our sustainability program, specifically the Student Environmental Council (SEC). The SEC is composed of student members of the WNA community interested in participating in projects that have an ecological relationship with and impact on WNA’s campus community and the environment beyond our campus. The SEC is for students interested in environmentalism, field work, scientific, legal, and humanities research, and creating the paths for the WNA community to connect to and care for the earth that sustains us.
