Oak Hall School is seeking a dynamic educator to join our Lower School teamas a Fourth Grade Lead Teacher with a Science/STEM focus. We invite well-qualified candidates to apply for this position which will begin August 2018.
Support the mission of Oak Hall School
Teach a class of fourth grade students; regular daily curriculum to include spelling, grammar, character education.
Promote a positive classroom environment and demonstrate strong classroom management skills to create and maintain a learning environment that ensures high levels of learning for all students
Plan and creatively teach a Science & Technology curriculum focused on developing students’ understanding of the nature of science, the scientific method and the development and use of 21st century research skills
Provide active and engaging hands-on experiences as part of the curriculum
Utilize project based learning
Assess and document each student’s performance/progress both formally and informally to meet the School's standards, and provide regular feedback to students and their parents
Work collaboratively with the LS Media Specialist to develop digital literacy and research skills
Work collaboratively with the fourth grade team, the Lower School team, and the greater Oak Hall community
Be an active member of the 4th/5th grade team, the Lower School team, the Science Department, and the greater Oak Hall community
Serve as a mentor and advocate for your students
Be a role model of integrity and professionalism
Submit weekly lesson plans
Maintain accurate and confidential records of students
Meet regular and predictable attendance requirements, including attending division and other school meetings, professional days, and other required events.
Adhere to School policies as described in the Employee Handbook and other materials
Well qualified candidates will possess the following credentials, talents, commitment, and comportment:
Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, required
Master’s Degree, preferred
Two years of experience as a teacher in similar position, preferred
Strong Science/STEM background is required
Be comfortable and adept with the effective use of technology in the learning process
Knowledge and understanding of various learning styles and differentiated instruction
Ability to inspire, engage, empower, and educate and evaluate students with vigor and creativity
A history of commitment to professional development and life-long learning
The ability to work positively and professionally with students, parents and faculty
A high degree of professionalism, collegiality, and personal conduct both in and outside of school
Ability, willingness, and judgment to communicate thoroughly, accurately, and concisely with all constituents in a school environment, both verbally and in writing
