Emerald’s math classes aim to instill in each student a comprehensive understanding of the value of mathematics as an academic discipline as well as an instrument for lifelong learning. While it is important for students to know the algorithms and formulas necessary to solve equations, it is even more essential for students to comprehend why certain mathematical relationships exist and how mathematics applies to real life situations. The ideal candidate should have a degree in mathematics and experience working with different grade levels. Candidates should have demonstrated expertise in student-centered, collaborative and inquiry-based teaching methodologies. The flexibility to teach multiple ages, experience with curriculum development, and an active interest in teaching with project-based and technology-based learning is preferred.
