Early Childhood, English/Language Arts, Library/Media Specialist
The Meadowbrook School of Weston, a pre-kindergarten through 8th grade school located in Weston, MA, seven miles west of Boston, is seeking a full-time Director of Student Support Services. The director oversees the student support program including: two full-time learning specialists and several contracted tutors. The Learning Lab provides academic support to children and serve as resources to teachers and parents to help them better understand their students. The director collaborates with the school’s two part-time counselors and consulting psychologist.
The school is searching for a leader who can help set a future vision for the Student Support Services department, one where every student is known, loved, and challenged. The collaborative nature of this position requires a mindset focused on helping teachers and parents and the school align with shared purpose.
Specific responsibilities include:
developing a holistic vision for the department including how to best support all academic areas
working 1:1 with lower and middle school students who need individual instructional support
analyzing data from WISC, ERB, and neuropsychological evaluations and working with teachers and parents to understand results, recommendations, and accommodations
chairing student success committees in lower and middle school. SSC’s use a multidisciplinary, case-based approach for academically or socially-emotionally at-risk students
collaborating with outside psychologists, occupational therapists, and other providers, as needed
responsible for organizing, scheduling and overseeing tutors who the school hires to work with individual students
teaching lower school reading groups
organizing professional development for the faculty on learning styles, disabilities, differentiation, executive functioning, and related topics.
The Director reports to the Head of Lower School and is a 10-month position with competitive compensation, benefits, and vacations. There may be additional summer work opportunities with additional compensation. Qualified candidates will have a master’s degree or equivalent professional experience and training. Experience with formal testing preferred.
