Actively supports the mission of The Fletcher School in the execution of his/her role and responsibilities.
Plans, prepares and delivers lesson plans and instructional materials that are structured, multi-sensory and targeted to individual learning styles in order to facilitate active learning and assist students in achieving their potential.
Ensures that curriculum, lesson plans and evaluations are in accordance with established school procedures and pedagogy.
Collaborates with grade-level team to achieve optimum outcome for each student.
Teaches up to six course sections or the equivalent in Science.
Instructs and monitors students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
Uses relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
Manages student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures in accordance with the disciplinary systems of the School.
Provides appropriate feedback and encouragement to students on their work.
Monitors the progress of individual students and uses information to adjust teaching strategies.
Maintains accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.
Participates in grade-level, school, and parent meetings.
Communicates necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
Establishes and communicates clear objectives for all learning activities
Prepares classroom for class activities.
Provides a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
Demonstrates preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
Encourages parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls and answer emails.
Participates in Professional Learning Program, Professional Learning Communities, and other appropriate professional activities.
Participates in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations as directed.
Works as a member of a team; support a collegial working environment that includes other departments and areas.
Other duties as may be assigned.
BA/BS degree in education or a related field (Sciences) from an accredited institution
3 to 5 years teaching experience.
Training or experience in Special Education or a related field desirable.
Have attended or willingness to attend Orton-Gillingham Associate level course or above.
Have or willingness to obtain Apple Teacher certification.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology
A criminal history background check is required of all employees.

About The Fletcher School
The Fletcher School is a non-profit, independent school offering a comprehensive educational program designed to build the academic, social and emotional competence of students with specific learning disabilities and/or ADHD. The program enables students in grades K-12 to experience success and embrace their unique talents. The Fletcher School program offers a student to teacher ratio of six to one (6:1) and is based on the principles of the Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching reading, writing, spelling, math, and all subject areas as part of a total language system. Instruction is sequential, cumulative, and repetitious in order to achieve mastery and ensure success for the student.
