Annie Wright Schools serve students from age three through high school. Annie Wright Lower and Middle Schools offer co-ed programs in Preschool through Grade 8, while separate Upper Schools for boys and girls offer day and boarding options in Grades 9 through 12.
The Middle School Spanish and ESL Teacher is responsible for teaching Spanish in Grades 5 and 6 and ESL in Grades 6, 7, and 8 in alignment with the mission and philosophy of Annie Wright Schools and with the IB Primary and Middle Years Programmes framework. Working closely with colleagues, s/he implements the Language Acquisition curriculum using best practices in teaching, including the AIM language learning approach for Spanish, student-centered instruction, and relevant educational technologies. S/he fulfills all faculty duties and maintains good communication with families about student progress.
The ideal candidate holds a MA in Spanish, Education, or a related field; demonstrates fluency in Spanish; has experience teaching Spanish at the Middle School level in an independent school; is familiar with the International Baccalaureate and its programs; and demonstrates enthusiasm for working with Middle School students and for the subject, familiarity with trends in language education, and flexibility.
