The Pike School is seeking an Associate Director for the Office of Advancement, with primary responsibility for the school’s fundraising efforts on behalf of operating budget. This responsibility also includes both oversight of advancement-related communications and stewardship efforts on an ongoing basis. The person in the role will work closely with both the director and advancement associate to create a cohesive approach to supporting philanthropy at the school.
The ideal candidate is an experienced fundraiser who appreciates the pace of annual fundraising, can oversee the logistics involved in the fundraising year (including volunteer recruitment and management, multi-channel outreach, etc.) and is comfortable soliciting by various means but especially by phone and in person.
This is a full-time position (40 hours/week) offering a competitive salary and benefits package. Candidate should expect to work occasional evenings and, rarely, weekends. This position reports to the Director of the Office of Advancement as part of a three-person office.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, manage, execute and grow the Annual Fund:
Create clearly articulated strategies for meeting and growing AF goals; execute and refine those strategies proactively
Lead in the planning and executing of year-long appeal process for all constituents
Partner in the office’s ongoing efforts to rebrand and reimagine annual fundraising at the school
Build relationships with all constituencies, with special emphasis on new and current families
Aid in leading fundraising teams and committees and in structuring their involvement for maximum engagement
Oversee the creation of fundraising-related communications projects, both in house and through vendors:
Lead the creation of the Annual Report to showcase impact and engagement
Serve as the point person on the planning, compiling, and publishing of the school’s TheQuill magazine, with one print edition and one electronic edition annually
Facilitate a range of advancement communications, including e-newsletters, electronic appeals, invitations and updates, as needed
Manage relationships with outside vendors for design and print
Collaborate within the office to design and carry out key additional fundraising-related initiatives including stewardship and events.
Serve as a community representative and liaison.
Be a visible presence in the life of the school as appropriate
Engage in various types of school-related duties (drop-off/pick-up; recess monitoring, etc.)
Serve on committees of interest alongside faculty and staff, administrators, trustees, and parents

Strong written and oral communication skills that engender enthusiasm and commitment
Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and confidentiality
3-5 years experience in fundraising, alumni relations, or comparable sales or relationship management positions
Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge or similar CRM platforms
Facility with Excel, databases, and Office software
Frontline fundraising experience soliciting gifts of $10,000 to $25,000 and up
Experience in independent schools
Fundraising communications experience
Understanding of social media and emerging communication channels for younger constituents
5-10 years of experience in fundraising, alumni relations, or comparable sales or relationship management positions
