The Director of Project Management and Coordination reports to the Chief Innovation Officer. He/she collaborates with the innovation team leaders and staff by developing and implementing detailed project plans and the coordination of projects across the innovation team and throughout the organization. The director is responsible for developing and executing a process to ensure clarity of goals, appropriate updates on progress, and a strong team approach when obstacles need to be overcome. The Innovation Team is currently comprised of five sub-teams (DASL (Data Analysis for School Leadership), the Insights Studio (new software development), Research, Information Technology, and Strategic Innovation).

Collaborate with team leaders and staff to create detailed project plans that are derived from annual goals and NAIS priorities.
Facilitate and plan regular Innovation Team update meetings and quarterly retreats for the entire Innovation Team (18 people).
Coordinate regular update meetings with individual team leaders to gauge progress against goals and make adjustments where necessary.
Execute and lead projects and tasks as needed to support and assist the Innovation Team in their goals and responsibilities
Design, train, and implement robust use of project management processes and tools to ensure that appropriate project tracking and communication is in place. NAIS currently uses Basecamp OneDrive, and Google Docs to manage projects.
Meet with the Chief Innovation Officer on a regular basis to review progress and discuss hurdles.
Support teams in the development of a budget review and update process.
Create project management frameworks and processes that can be scaled to other teams.
Design and implement events, processes, and check-ins that create a joyful, collaborative, supportive, and well-informed team.
Meet with NAIS teams outside of the Innovation Team to update them on project goals and progress and ensure that Innovation Team projects are not in conflict with other NAIS priorities.
Bachelor degree or higher
Professional certification (in project management, agile, business analysis, and/or risk management) is highly desired
Extensive experience working in a project management and coordination role
Knowledge of and experience with various project management processes and core competencies
Demonstrated ability to use good judgement and analytical skills in the collaborative modification of project timelines and deliverables
A proven ability to work with several projects at the same time
A proven ability to build partnerships
Strong technical acumen and analytic skills
Strong written and oral communication skills
An ability to collaborate and coach while also holding project leaders accountable
Significant experience creating projects and delivering results
Strong knowledge of Agile Process Management
Skills in complex problem solving, judgment, critical thinking and decision-making
Ability to communicate effectively through all channels to maintain coordination across a large team
Willingness to travel for quarterly or bi-monthly meetings at the NAIS office in Washington, DC (remote workers)
