The Philadelphia School, a progressive preschool-8 day school with 476 students and 115 employees, seeks a Director of After School Enrichment (ASEP) beginning this summer.. Under the supervision of the Director of Auxiliary Programming, the Director of After School Enrichment is responsible for all aspects of planning, operating, and assessing the After School Enrichment Programs, which serves over 100 students daily. The Director of After School Enrichment is also responsible for managing the team of 15+ (include ASEP program leadership and teachers). This position has regular hours of 12:30 - 6:30 Monday-Friday and is exempt from overtime.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Design and Implementation of After School Enrichment Program:
Maintain and expand established program, while ensuring alignment with the school’s mission and meeting the needs of families.
Work with the Director of Auxiliary Programming and ASEP leadership team on the design and coordination of ASEP, as well as scheduled full-day Special Programs that provide childcare to families during in-service days and a week of summer camp through the ASEP Early Summer Program.
Oversee the smooth operation of program on a daily basis and ensure any issues are handled appropriately and communicated effectively, including fostering collegiality and positive morale among staff.
Oversee enrollment, attendance, and dismissal procedures, while ensuring school’s safety standards and ratios are being met.
Oversee and manage student engagement, behavior, and timely communication with parents., including necessary documentation.
Recruit, interview, and hire faculty for program in compliance with school recruiting and hiring policies and administer the performance evaluations of program employees using the school’s evaluation protocol.
Work with School Nurse to ensure that all program staff are trained in health and safety policies and to ensure all food within in the program follows the health, safety, and allergy policies.
Ensure program and school policies and procedures are being consistently followed and maintained by program staff.
Optimize the use of ASEP space and facilities after school, while effectively coordinating with classroom teachers.
Oversee and proof marketing and promotional materials, such as documentation, photographs, special program flyers, newsletter updates, blog posts, website, and any community outreach.
Work with Director of Auxiliary Programming, faculty and staff, and ASEP leadership team to ensure seamless communication between day and after-school programs.
Plan and lead opening & closing inservice weeks, in addition to coordinating professional development for staff during the school year, with ASEP leadership team.
Oversee the budget and payroll functions to ensure the fiscal health of the program.
Work with the Director of Auxiliary Programming to organize, operate, and maintain the TPS summer camp programs, as needed.
Work day maybe extended as needed for planning, professional development, and other school events. This may include weekends and evenings.
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a related field is required.
At least five years of management experience preferred.
Working knowledge of independent school operations is preferred.
Demonstrated genuine interest in the student population and after school programs.
Demonstrated sensitivity, cultural competence, good judgment, and confidentiality in working with students, staff, and parents.
Communicate appropriately and effectively with students, parents, administrators, faculty and other school personnel.
Knowledge & Skills Requirements:
Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum, program, and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of programming effects.
Must be diplomatic, tactful, discreet, flexible, resourceful, dependable, well-organized, friendly, emotionally mature, punctual, and professional. Must be able to work effectively with multiple supervisors and administration, and balance and prioritize multiple requests.
Must demonstrate ability to complete assigned project tasks on time and with minimal supervision.
