National Cathedral School (NCS) announces a search for a full-time health and wellness/fitness instructor for an appointment beginning August 2018. The successful candidate will teach fitness and health and wellness classes for middle and upper school students. The instructor will also work with the Director of Athletics and the Counseling department to assist in the planning, development, and execution of campus-wide wellness and fitness programs for students, faculty and parents. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting with the peer leadership program, attending regular department, division, and grade-level meetings, curriculum development, and committee service. The instructor will be expected to work from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm throughout the school year (mid-August through June), although there will be occasional days when meetings or classes are held before or after the stated hours. Staff members are also expected to participate regularly in the life of the school during the work day and occasional after-school, evening, or weekend events. Physical requirements involve the ability to lift up to 45 pounds, stand for an extended amount of time, and work in an environment with noise.
Qualified candidates must have strong interpersonal and organization skills as well as instructional experience in the area of health and wellness, fitness or mindfulness practices. A bachelor's degree is required and candidates must hold nationally recognized certifications in fitness and/or strength and conditioning training. Salaries are competitive, based on experience.
