The Learning Resource Program serves students in grades 6-12 with mild to moderate learning differences who are experiencing difficulty with school success. The program features inclusion, stand-alone classes, peer tutoring, and after-school study assistance led by the Coordinator who also provides up-to-date information of current research, trends, and best practices to classroom teachers and parents.
The Coordinator builds the capacity of the school to teach academic skills, foster intellectual habits, nurture a growth mindset, and cultivate a strong culture of achievement. The Coordinator leads the Student Support Team, develops and manages all modified educational plans, liaising with teachers, school nurse, and external professionals as needed.
As a teacher, this individual must create a flexible educational program and friendly learning environment that provides specialized instruction and learning activities in order for students to benefit from their educational experience to the greatest extent possible.
This is a faculty position with a 10.5 month contract.
Demonstrated success teaching/coaching students with mild to moderate learning disabilities
Professional competence and knowledge of current research, trends, best practices, and laws related to learning disabilities and exceptionalities
Ability to interpret test data, evaluation, achievement tests, behavioral scales, and adaptive behavioral scales
Strong interpersonal skills
Excellent written communication and presentation skills
