Winchendon’s academic program builds timeless academic skills and exposes students to foundational content areas, while also creating a supportive space for students to direct their own education toward internships, independent projects, and initiatives that they are excited about, thus driving their learning beyond the traditional classroom. For all of our students, we strive to assist in the growth of character traits and life skills essential for a successful future: initiative, creativity, grit, empathy, cooperation, independence.
The ideal candidate for this position will be supremely versatile and have a strong background in the teaching of mathematics and sciences across the curriculum, specifically with the ability to teach calculus and physics courses. Additionally, a qualified teacher will be able to incorporate contextualized project and field-based learning opportunities into their classrooms, emphasize student self-reflection as an assessment strategy and vehicle to encourage growth, and value a constructivist approach to learning. Lastly, candidates who can support the development of athletic programs and opportunities (through coaching and coordination) for boys will be given strong consideration.
This is a different kind of teaching job that should interest those excited to be a part of a school startup. We value those who are enthusiastic, self-motivated, and well rounded, and who will be role models in our community.
