This is an exciting time to be a part of the Development team as Laurel School prepares for its next comprehensive campaign. Laurel School seeks a self-motivated, energetic and passionate fundraising professional to join its development team. Reporting to the Director of Development, this person will help identify, cultivate, solicit and close gifts and will manage an assigned portfolio of approximately 100 major and planned gift prospects who have the ability to make significant gifts. In addition, this position will lead the efforts, with volunteers, to secure leadership gifts in support of events, special projects and the School’s annual fund, the Laurel Fund.
For this externally focused opportunity, we seek an innovative, self-motivated individual with demonstrated interpersonal skills who can effectively relate to donors, trustees, alumni, parents, volunteers and colleagues. We seek a development professional with a demonstrated track record in major gifts who can meet monthly and annual metrics and fundraising goals. This person will participate in regular staff and volunteer screening meetings to identify new prospects and plan cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies for gift prospects.
Duties and responsibilities include:
Initiate contacts with potential leadership and major gift donors; Develop appropriate cultivation strategies for them; Move potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure; Make solicitations when appropriate; Maintain stewardship contacts with donors; Track all activities and proposals in Raiser’s Edge
In conjunction with the Director of the Laurel Fund, assist in increasing support of the Prentiss Society, the annual fund’s leadership giving program
Solicit leadership gifts and sponsorships for key school events
Work collaboratively with the Development team to develop appropriate cultivation and stewardship events
Enthusiastically support all external relations activities at the School
Other duties as assigned
A bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years fundraising experience with major gifts and planned giving strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to close major gifts required. Experience with implementing strategies for corporate sponsorship. A positive outlook, entrepreneurial spirit, an articulate and persuasive presentation, an extraordinary work ethic, and a genuine affinity towards the mission of Laurel School. Sees challenges as opportunities and embraces the joy and purpose of philanthropy.
Available to work evenings and weekends as required; able to travel frequently (50-75%)
Superior organizational, time management, oral and written communication skills to be able to initiate and maintain regular contact with prospective donors by visit, letter and phone
Advanced computer skills, include the Google suite of tools and fundraising software (preferably RE NXT)
