ICA is searching for an experienced Generalist – Human Resources/Accounting to perform accounting tasks and provide financial oversight in support of all finance and accounting functions. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations, the Controller must be able to provide leadership for all accounting and financial functions while promoting a service-oriented environment.
Responsibilities include: • Develop and oversee the agency’s fiscal strategy and operations. • Oversee fundraising activities/Volunteer Hours of parents • Reconcile all bank accounts monthly and investigate discrepancies. • Engage in ongoing cost reduction analyses in all areas of the school. • Assists with cash deposits for all funds collected on an as needed basis. • Represent the school to financial institutions, government agencies, external auditors, vendors, and others outside the school as needed Lead annual agency budget preparation process by grant, program and department • Develop and oversee the school’s overall human resources strategy and operational implementation. • Oversee the school’s information technology, data, voice, and electronic communication operations. • Establish and maintain effective communication with department directors, board of directors, and external business partners, preparing and presenting reports as necessary. • Prepare and enter bi-monthly payroll for approximately 20 employees • Prepare journal entry to classify payroll and prepare monthly reconciliation for all benefits vendor invoices • Effectively coordinate with business office staff on payroll –related matters • Ensure all plans comply with applicable laws and statues (HIPPA, ERSA and IRS guidelines) • Track and maintain records for paid time off and ACA compliance • Coordinate dissemination of benefits information, and human resources to new hires • Develop and maintain employee files and other pertinent employee information • Remain knowledgeable about HR trends and industry best practices, and advises on implementation of new policies in compliance • Periodically audit job descriptions and classification of employees as appropriate under the Fair Labor Standards Act • Ensure compliance with federal and state employees as appropriate under the Fair Labor Standards Acts • Manage employees separation process for voluntary/involuntary terminations • Compile, analyze and prepare all general ledger entries and file related documentation • Oversee budget management working closely with various cost-center owners • Manage accounts receivable from posting all charges to collections • Participate in school-wide work • Other duties assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS - A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, and human resources. - A minimum of five years relevant experience in progressively responsible positions within a not-for profit accounting environment, preferably in private education; two of those years in a supervisory role - Experience in organizing and writing reports and in presenting results to all levels of management; ability to interact with staff at all levels; ability to communicate technical financial information to non-financial end-users - Demonstrated leadership skills with ability to assign work, train staff, and conduct performance reviews - Proficient in the use of Financial Edge accounting software, Microsoft Office Excel and Google Docs - Proven experience in solving problems for individuals and teams; experience analyzing and identifying the strengths and weakness of financial options and exercising critical thinking - A strong work ethic; ability to work independently with minimal supervision; proven record of multi-tasking with success meeting deadlines - Excellent interpersonal skills; the ability to interact in a cooperative and professional manner with all contacts
