The Buckley School, Los Angeles’ oldest K-12 coeducational learning institution, has an opening for an Art Teacher to teach art at the middle school and high school levels for the 2018-2019 school year. This teacher will be responsible for all aspects of teaching our curriculum and will also be responsible for developing and maintaining curriculum maps of the courses he or she teaches. This individual will also be responsible for an advisory of 6-8 students and will be expected to be present at certain school events. Classes to be taught include AP Studio Art (Drawing, 2D & 3D portfolios), Drawing and Painting, Graphic Design on both the beginning and advanced levels as well as Middle School art.
BA degree (BFA, MA or MFA preferred)
Demonstrated mastery in drawing, painting, graphic design and printmaking
Strong hands-on knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator
At least two years of successful teaching experience
Demonstrated mastery of the subject
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with peers
A commitment to a mastery philosophy of learning (as opposed to simply measuring students through grades)
Demonstrated commitment to equity theory within the classroom
Demonstrated competency in diversity, multiculturalism, inclusion, equity and social justice
Demonstrated commitment to working with children outside of the classroom (advisory programs, clubs, etc.)
Demonstrated skill in using technology to design learning
Exceptional interpersonal skills
Additional Salary Information: Salary is dependent on degree, teaching and other relevant experience. Compensation includes full benefits.
