Atlanta International School (AIS) has just over 1450 alumni worldwide. The Director of Alumni Relations is responsible for the planning and implementation of programs that engage these alumni as individuals and through their careers, strengthen their affinity with the school, and increase alumni giving. In addition to this integral work with alumni, the Director of Alumni Relations will have oversight of relationships with parents of alumni.
As an ambassador for AIS, the Director of Alumni Relations will work with her/his colleagues across the school community to identify, cultivate and steward relationships with alumni and parents of alumni. The director will foster these relationships through communication, outreach, and hosting strategic special events to engage and inform. The director is charged with increasing alumni and parent of alumni engagement with the goals of increasing giving to both annual and capital campaigns.

Alumni Data Management
Maintain accurate and complete alumni database records to include capturing contact, biographical and career information for alumni
Aggregate alumni data to provide high-level insights to inform engagement strategy as well as provide key information for admissions recruitment, marketing, and reporting
Oversee all alumni and parent of alumni communications to include social media, email, and print publications
Manage and encourage the use of AIS Connect, the alumni web-based platform, to assist alumni as they network both personally and professionally
Manage the design, content, printing, and distribution for the Global Exchange, AIS’s magazine published once per year
Develop and maintain regional AIS Alumni Chapters nationally and internationally; specifically targeting chapters in Atlanta, Berlin, Chicago, London, New York City and San Francisco
Support alumni industry affinity groups via AIS Connect and social events/experiences to foster alumni career networking
Develop and launch an Alumni Board to assist in galvanizing the AIS alumni and parent of alumni community to be informed about the current strategic plans for the school and to remain ever-connected to the AIS community
Work to educate students in Grade 11 and 12 about the opportunities and benefits of remaining engaged with AIS as alumni
In collaboration with the Head of Development and the Director of Annual Giving and Stewardship, set alumni and parent of alumni fundraising goals
Manage a personal portfolio of alumni and parent of alumni prospects to cultivate, solicit and steward as donors
In collaboration with the Development Office staff, identify and strategize how to engage prospective alumni and parent of alumni donors
Record and share fundraising related activities via contact reports in Raiser’s Edge
Minimum of 3-5 years of alumni relations experience with demonstrated success in establishing and maintaining alumni and parent of alumni relationships
Minimum of 2 years of fundraising experience with demonstrated success in soliciting gifts
Availability to work evenings and weekends to include the ability to travel nationally and internationally
Ability to speak and write in either Spanish, German or French
Familiarity with the International Baccalaureate Program
Experience in an independent or international school
Experience working with database system’s similar to Raiser’s Edge/Blackbaud
Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
Demonstrably strong organizational and planning skills
Ability to recruit, retain and lead volunteers
Keen awareness of and appreciation for flexibility in dealing with colleagues and volunteers
