Crossroads School Department of Theatre seeks a dynamic part time Acting Teacher for the 2018-19 school year. Fall semester courses are Theatre 2 (10th grade) and Acting for Film (11th and 12th grades), with spring semester courses to be decided. Theatre 2 provides students with specific tools for the development of character, creation of subtext and the preparation and performance of monologues and scenes. Work on basic audition skills, proper use of voice and physicality, text analysis, and improvisational work is included. Drama Conservatory students in Acting for Film focus on the challenges of the actor’s job on camera, clarifying similarities and differences to acting on stage. Students develop technique and explore the emotional vulnerability needed for effective work on camera through exercises and weekly on-camera work. Ongoing critique from peers and instructor, and guided self-evaluation help the actor accurately self-assess.
Required: BA or BFA is Theatre or related field; experience working with high school actors; attendance at monthly departmental meetings, good communication skills and an open, collaborative nature.
